On Monday the 18th, the Institute for Digital Innovation (IDIA) at George Mason University was proud to host all the participants of the 2026 Digital Innovation Summer Industry Graduate Internships program for its kick-off meeting — an initiative designed to connect Mason’s top graduate students with leading industry partners working on the cutting edge of digital innovation.
This program creates a direct bridge between academia and industry by embedding graduate students into hands-on research and innovation environments where they can apply their expertise to real-world challenges. From artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to health technologies and advanced computing, these internships help transform research into impact.
At IDIA, we believe innovation happens at the intersections — where students, researchers, companies, and public partners collaborate to solve complex problems that shape our digital society.
The program not only provides students with immersive professional experience, but also helps strengthen long-term partnerships between George Mason University and industry leaders across the region.
